At our dealership, environmental responsibility is not just a consideration – it's a fundamental aspect of our ethos.
Our motivation stemmed from a critical review of our dealership management practices, leading us to realise that we could contribute more to environmental conservation.
In 2015 we installed 95 photovoltaic roof panels at our Wincanton site, each measuring 1.6 by 0.8 meters, generating an impressive 17,540 units of electricity per year. This move significantly slashed our carbon footprint by approximately 9,962KG of CO2 annually.
Proudly, we went on to become one of the first Nissan dealerships to offer the 100% electric Nissan LEAF shortly after its release.
Today, we extend our commitment by providing eco-friendly electric charging points for both customers and staff. Our team includes dedicated Electric Specialists who passionately embrace innovative electric designs, and we actively encourage the use of electric vehicles in our company car fleet.
In 2019, our commitment to sustainability continued with the construction of our state-of-the-art Kia & Nissan showroom at Fusion Park, West Hendford. Prioritising minimal environmental impact, we incorporated low-energy lighting and achieved the highest thermal efficiency rating in the showroom.
The dealership boasts 10 electric vehicle charging points and a remarkable array of 140 multicrystalline silicon PV panels on the roof, yielding a peak output of 38.5kWp. These panels are expected to generate approximately 32,000 kWh of electricity annually, reducing the building's carbon emissions by an estimated 16,700kg per year.
Taking another step towards sustainability, we implemented a rainwater harvesting system. This innovative solution collects rainwater from the roof area, passing it through a pre-tank filter to remove debris before entering a storage tank. This system not only saves 425 cubic meters of water annually but also reduces our reliance on mains water.
As we continue to stay abreast of advances in green driving technology, our collective efforts strive to minimise our environmental impact. Every initiative, no matter how small, contributes to our ongoing commitment to a sustainable and eco-conscious future.
