Nissan and FJ Chalke has launched its new "Designed. Built. Loved. By Britain." campaign, celebrating almost four decades of designing, engineering and manufacturing vehicles in the UK.
The theme highlights Nissan's long-standing contribution to the British automotive industry and recognises the people, communities and expertise that have helped shape the brand's success since manufacturing began in Sunderland in 1986. FJ Chalke has been proud to represent the Nissan brand since 1987, reflecting a shared commitment to serving customers and supporting the marque's growth in the UK for nearly four decades.
Today, Nissan's presence in Britain extends far beyond vehicle production. From design and engineering to manufacturing, retail and community partnerships, the company continues to invest in skills, innovation and employment across the UK.
How Nissan Supports the UK Automotive Industry
The campaign focuses on four key areas that demonstrate Nissan's continued investment in Britain.
Designed in Britain – Paddington
Nissan Design Europe, based in Paddington, London, is where designers help shape the appearance and functionality of future Nissan vehicles. The studio contributes to the development of models sold in markets around the world, with British design expertise playing an important role in Nissan's global product portfolio.
Engineered in Britain – Cranfield
Nissan's Technical Centre Europe in Cranfield is the company's UK engineering hub. The facility has been instrumental in developing new technologies and played a significant role in the development of the pioneering Nissan LEAF. Today, engineers continue to test and develop vehicles that support Nissan's future mobility and electrification plans.
Built in Britain – Sunderland
Nissan's Sunderland plant is the largest automotive manufacturing facility in the UK and one of Europe's most productive vehicle factories. Since opening in 1986, the plant has built millions of vehicles, including the Nissan Qashqai, Nissan Juke and Nissan MICRA, while supporting thousands of skilled manufacturing jobs.
Loved by Britain
Nissan's success in Britain has been built through the support of its employees, suppliers, retailers, customers and local communities. Together, they have helped make models such as the Qashqai, Juke and MICRA among the UK's most recognised and popular vehicles.
As Nissan approaches 40 years of manufacturing in Britain, the campaign reflects the company's ongoing commitment to British design, engineering, manufacturing and the people who continue to support the brand. This commitment aligns closely with FJ Chalke's own heritage. Established in 1929, FJ Chalke has been serving motorists for more than 95 years, growing from a family-run business into a trusted dealership group while maintaining its focus on customer service, community values and long-term relationships. Together, Nissan's British manufacturing legacy and FJ Chalke's decades of automotive expertise highlight a shared dedication to supporting drivers and local communities across the UK.
