This is the future of Nissan’s compact car lineup – an all-electric Micra that’s bold in design and full of personality. Dubbed as “audacious” by Nissan themselves, this little EV is making a big statement in the supermini segment.

Built on the same EV platform as the new Renault 5 – thanks to the ongoing Nissan-Renault Alliance – the Micra was crafted in Nissan’s London design studio and is scheduled to hit roads later this year.

Under the skin, buyers will be able to choose between two battery options: 40kWh or 52kWh. The larger pack is expected to deliver a driving range close to 250 miles (around 400km), putting it firmly in the running for daily usability.

Though it borrows some of the Renault 5’s angular style, Nissan has injected its own identity into the new Micra. The design team has leaned into the brand’s heritage while promising that the car will remain faithful to the essence of previous Micras – keeping things simple, accessible, and fun. While details are still under wraps, Nissan’s teaser image hints at a confident new look.

The Micra is just one part of a broader push by Nissan to refresh its global lineup. Alongside a third-generation LEAF, the company is also rolling out a new wave of electrified vehicles. Ivan Espinosa, Nissan’s newly appointed CEO, summed it up: “We’re doubling down on vehicles that showcase the heart of what Nissan is all about.” With the Micra due before year’s end, the countdown has officially begun!
