Road Tax Changes for EV Owners: What You Need to Know What You Need to Know

Starting 1st April 2025, EVs will no longer be exempt from road tax. However, there's good news - the new government rates come with a discount.

What’s Changing?

Starting April 1, 2025 the following rates will apply:

EVs registered between April 1, 2017 – March 31, 2025: £195 per year
EVs registered between March 1, 2001 – March 31, 2017: £20 per year
New EVs registered after April 1, 2025: £10 in the first year, then £195 annually

How This Affects EV Owners

If your road tax renewal is approaching, it may be beneficial to re-tax before April 1st to take advantage of lower costs for as long as possible. This step could result in savings before the new prices take effect.
