George Chalke, Mere Branch Director, participated in the Weymouth Ironman event on Sunday, September 17th for two great causes!
The Ironman competition would normally include a 1.9km open water swim before hitting the road for a 90km bike ride, followed by a half marathon run to finish. Unfortunately, the open water swim was cancelled due to the adverse weather and sea conditions, however, the challenge was still extreme for the competitors!
Raising over £1700 for the Stars Appeal and the The Brave and Determined Charity George completed the Ironman in a time of just over five hours, 19 minutes.
All money raised will be split evenly between the two charities.
The Brave and Determined Charity who do amazing work funding early intervention life-saving counselling for anyone who needs it, whilst raising awareness of mental health and helping to reduce the burden on the NHS.
The Salisbury Hospital Stars Appeal who provide daily support for hundreds of staff, patients, and their families from the funding of family accommodation and Wi-Fi through to new CT and MRI scanners and other specialist state-of-the-art equipment.
Huge congratulations from all of your colleagues at FJ Chalke!
