Why: In 2017, Ed was revived three times in the back of an ambulance. He had just broken his neck and was to wake up to the news that his career as a professional athlete was over and he had changed the course of his life forever. After a misjudged dive into a swimming pool, Ed was now a quadriplegic. Instead of accepting his fate, Ed focused on regaining millimetres of movement in his big toe and set himself the task of summiting Mountains. Despite being told he would most likely never walk again Ed defied medical opinion and achieved his goal. Inspired by his own journey from millimetres to mountains, Ed co-founded The 'Millimetres to Mountains Foundation' with wife Lois.

Their mission? To provide a platform through adventure for individuals to redefine their own limitations following trauma and take steps towards a brighter future. Ed has also become a champion for adaptive adventure and has led a number of projects to improve accessibility to the outdoors for those with physical limitations and disabilities.
